Margarita Gummies? Say what? Yep. And tomorrow is  Cinco de Mayo no less  (May 5th!!). Crazy stuff. These are strong so watch it! They are very “gummy” like in texture so if you are an original gummy fan, meaning pretty rubbery, then you will love this. Well, texture and the buzz you’re going to get from them! Have fun…..and Happy Cinco de Mayo y’all !!

Margarita Gummies

Ingredients:

1/4 cup Triple Sec

1/4 cup orange flavored liqueur  (we used Grand Marnier)

1 cup silver tequila

1/2 cup plus 2 Tbs lime juice

1 Tbs sugar

1/2 cup gelatin

Directions:

In a medium saucepan add all the liquid, sprinkle with about a tablespoon of gelatin. Heat to around 90-100 degrees using a candy thermometer. Alcohol will burn off at around 159 degrees, so keep an eye on your temperature. Add the sugar, stir. While stirring briskly with a whisk, gradually add the gelatin powder. Continue whisking until all the gelatin has dissolved. Don’t get too crazy here with your whisk or it will be really foamy!

Once the gelatin has all dissolved into the liquid scoop any extra foam off the top (you can eat this = bonus!) and pour the mixture into a 8×8 square pan. Put it in the refrigerator for 2 hours.

Cut into rectangles or use cookie cutters to make your favorite shapes.

BTW, the can sit out for several hours in room temperature without melting. We happen to think they are better cold. These are strong!! We’d advise tasting the liquid before you pour it into the pan – if it’s too strong for you add a bit of water.
